The Lens Is As Big As My Head!!!

Tim is shooting the CSU baseball game at USC today and to say he is excited would be a true understatement. Because of this amazing opportunity, Tim rented some new camera gear for the weekend and Tuesday. Now....to say this lens was large....I don't really know if you could truly understand. I could actually fit my head in the end of the lens and for those of you who know me, that is no easy task!!!

So I took this opportunity to head out and take some bird pictures. It is amazing how heavy that thing is! The lens has its own suitcase!!!

And yes, I love my new camo!!! :)

The first two times I went out it was not as great as I was hoping. This lens weights a lot more than our normal lens which makes capturing your subject in the middle of the camera extremely difficult. Also, the zoom on this thing is amazing as well so just finding the subject through the view finder was a task by itself. But as I started to practice more and more, I started getting the hang of it. After failing to get many pictures Friday night, I went back out to Marrington and managed to get a couple of good shots:

Double Crested Cormorant

After some Firehouse subs, Tim and I headed out a new location, Pitt Street in Mt. Pleasant. We thought about taking pictures from the walk way but Tim insisted we get down into the muck that was now visible during low tide and get up close and personal with the birds. It paid off for sure!!

Exhausted from the day, we decided to head back up to CSU before calling it a day. I am glad we did because not only was my friend the Greater White-Fronted Goose still there, we had a new addition of the Double Crested Cormorant.

Overall, it was a great day spent with Tim taking pictures. Even though we will have to send the massive lens back, we now know what is next on our wish list. Can't wait to get to Hawaii and start taking pictures there as well! Its going to be great!

As always, comments are welcomed. Thanks for following!!
